1. No phone screening interview with HR staff.

2. Direct phone interview with interviewers, mainly existing Product Managers

3. Questions include

-Why do you want to join Google?
-What do you know about Google's product and technology
-If you are Product Manager for Google's Adwords, how do you plan to market this?
-What would you say during product seminar of Adwords or Adsense?
-Who are Google competitors, and how Google compete with them?
-Have you ever used Google's products? such as Gmail?
-Wha's creative way you may think of to market Google's brand name and product?
-If you are Product Manager for Google's Gmail product, how do you plan to market it so as to achieve target customer of 100M in 6 months?

4. Almost no questions related to your past work experience. It seems that they are more interested in what you are able to do in future rather than you have done in your previous company.

5. If all phone screen intervews go well, you would be arranged for several on-site interviews.

Drew on 2/1/2005 8:22 PM Love your blog! Thanks!
Dirk on 2/1/2005 10:40 PM I have had one round of interview for the product manager position and my experience has been similar. Absolutely no questions on past experience. Questions were about Google strategy, threats from competitors and what should be done to overcome those threats.

Denley on 2/2/2005 3:16 AM I was interviewed for a Google developer position, initially by two phone screenings (HR and tech) two weeks apart and after that it took about 2 weeks to get back to me.
After that, they flew me to NY from overseas, for a full day of interviews and I didn't hear from them again.
Bond on 2/2/2005 5:34 AM sometimes, I do not think Google is really recruiting these positions. It seems that some open positions ( the same title and same job description)have been on Google career website for more than one years.
Bartholomew on 2/2/2005 7:52 AM if you did not get feedback from Google HR in one week, it is very possible you did not pass the first round phone interview.

Google HR provided feedback to me within one week.
Mike on 2/2/2005 10:10 AM I was interviewed for a Google developer position this Tuesday. The phone call is from a technical guy (Ph.D.). But I did not get feedback from Google HR yet.
John on 2/2/2005 12:28 PM good! it helps
